The band started its carrier on the 2nd of October with the leading of János Péter (flautist of MÉZ, Shannon.hu).. Firkin nationalized the energic genre of Celtic-Irish party music in Hungary. All age-groups enjoy their concerts including huge festivals, clubs or even theatres.
Several gigs on different stages prove the success of the band (Sziget Festival, Hegyalja Festival, Pannónia Festival, Kaláka Festival, Ördögkatlan, Azfeszt, Savaria Karnevál, Kocsonya Festival and a well-known folk festival in Germany, Castellans Folk Sommer)
This summer, the band received an invitation to give a seperate, exclusive concert-show at Művészetek Palotája (Palace of Arts). They played for full-house audience on the 25th of June, 2010.
„Firkinful Of Beer“, their debute album was nominated at Fonogram Awards in 2010, which reached the necessary number of sold records for becoming Golden record in august. The title song came up on a German selection album called „Almost St. Patrick’s Day“ (best bands playing Irish music), and also on a Hungarian selection album „World Music from Hungary - Világzene Itthonról 2”, where the music of Firkin appears together with Muzsikás, Palya Bea, Szalóki Ági, Kerekes Band and a Besh o droM!
